For the gift exchange, I always like to make something extra special. I always end up with a tree. I guess I'm particularly fond of trees.
This year, I took all the leftover pieces I had from my Many Merry Stars Simply Created Kit and punched a hole in the center of each one. Then, while munching popcorn and watching Christmas shows with the kids, I slid each star on a dowel. The kids helped me decide which stars to go where. We didn't want the tree to look too perfect, so I'd throw in an odd size periodically to keep in "natural" looking and see what they thought. I had some of the largest stars from the kit left, and planned on making them the bottom layer, but they were really out of proportion with the rest of the tree, so we nixed that.
At the base, I found some spools at a craft store that fit perfectly onto my dowel. What luck!
And adorning the top is another star, of course. I just adhered 5 of the smallest stars in the kit to each other to make it 3D and hot glued the dowel into the center. Then the whole thing got a dip in the glitter tray.
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I wish I had enough stars left to make another to keep.
Oh, I guess I'll just have to buy another kit!
I hope you like today's inspiration. Tomorrow, I'll show you what I got at the gift exchange, so make sure you check back!
Until next time, stay crafty!
Alison
